The Camiguin Polytechnic State College celebrated its 17th Foundation Day last February 23-25, 2012, with the theme “Moving Fast for Quality and Recognition”. On the second day of the three- day affair, the event was started with a Thanksgiving Mass at the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, followed by a Civic Military Parade which was participated by the College’s students, alumni, employees and professors. After the parade, the ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly completed Technology Livelihood Education (TLE) building was held, led by the Province’s Honorable Congressman Pedro P. Romualdo and the Honorable Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo. An opening program at the CPSC quadrangle followed.

During the opening program, the Honorable Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, who was presented as Guest of Honor by College President  Dr. Venus Lammawin, gave an inspirational message. In his talk, Governor Romualdo stressed on the importance of education.  “Education is really our future”, he said. According to him, despite the different problems that are country is facing today like lack of employment, he remains positive by saying, “I still believe that there is a future for our youth”. “Magpadayon ta, magpadayon ang edukasyon”, he added. For him, an open economy welcomes potential investors, hence opening doors for job opportunities for Filipinos.

The Honorable Congressman Pedro P. Romualdo was also present, who flew all the way from Manila to join in the celebration of the College’s Foundation Day. During his inspirational message, Congressman Romualdo said that the essence and goal that CPSC has set forth for this year’s theme is to “continue to prepare and strengthen our readiness to the global changes in the workplace, business and industry requirements”. He congratulated CPSC through the Board’s efforts and it’s College President for pursuing the accreditation process with the accrediting agency of the Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) wherein five of the school’s programs already received Level 1 status.

Congressman Romualdo also said that in a span of 17 years, we have seen the steady growth of CPSC in terms of additional buildings, improvement of structures, upgraded laboratories, a better library, additional course offerings including post- graduate studies (Master in Education and Master in Public Administration). “We all look forward to the realization of our dreams for our premier state college to be a center of development or a center of excellence in the near future”, he added.
