The Camiguin Polytechnic State
College celebrated its 17th Foundation Day last February 23-25,
2012, with the theme “Moving Fast for Quality and Recognition”. On the second
day of the three- day affair, the event was started with a Thanksgiving Mass at
the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, followed by a Civic Military Parade which
was participated by the College’s students, alumni, employees and professors.
After the parade, the ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly completed Technology
Livelihood Education (TLE) building was held, led by the Province’s Honorable
Congressman Pedro P. Romualdo and the Honorable Governor Jurdin Jesus M.
Romualdo. An opening program at the CPSC quadrangle followed.
During the opening program, the
Honorable Governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, who was presented as Guest of
Honor by College President Dr. Venus
Lammawin, gave an inspirational message. In his talk, Governor Romualdo
stressed on the importance of education.“Education is really our future”, he said. According to him, despite the
different problems that are country is facing today like lack of employment, he
remains positive by saying, “I still believe that there is a future for our
youth”. “Magpadayon ta, magpadayon ang edukasyon”, he added. For him, an open
economy welcomes potential investors, hence opening doors for job opportunities
for Filipinos.
The Honorable Congressman Pedro P.
Romualdo was also present, who flew all the way from Manila to join in the
celebration of the College’s Foundation Day. During his inspirational message, Congressman
Romualdo said that the essence and goal that CPSC has set forth for this year’s
theme is to “continue to prepare and strengthen our readiness to the global
changes in the workplace, business and industry requirements”. He congratulated
CPSC through the Board’s efforts and it’s College President for pursuing the
accreditation process with the accrediting agency of the Chartered Colleges and
Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) wherein five of the school’s programs
already received Level 1 status.
Congressman Romualdo also said that
in a span of 17 years, we have seen the steady growth of CPSC in terms of
additional buildings, improvement of structures, upgraded laboratories, a
better library, additional course offerings including post- graduate studies
(Master in Education and Master in Public Administration). “We all look forward
to the realization of our dreams for our premier state college to be a center
of development or a center of excellence in the near future”, he added.
The Camiguin Polytechnic State
College was created on February 24, 1995 by virtue of Republic Act 7923, which
was authored by Congressman Pedro P. Romualdo. It integrated the Mindanao
Polytechnic State College- Camiguin, Central Mindanao University- Catarman and
Camiguin School of Arts and Trades into one State College with its Main Campus
located at Balbagon, Mambajao, Camiguin.

CPSC - my alma mater. I am a product of CPSC high school batch 1997 and now a successful Mechanical Engineer working in the Middle East in Oil and Gas Industry.
