Name of Project: Water Works System, Farm to Market Roads and Micro-Credit under the Spanish Assistance Integrated Livelihood (SAIL)

Objectives: To alleviate poverty and provide safety and potable water dam and easy access of the services in the urban center of the island

Partner: Kingdom of Spain (Cooperacion Espaņola)

Overview:

The municipalities of Sagay, Guinsiliban and Catarman were the beneficiaries of the water works system. This is to give assistance to the populace in their needs of potable water for the daily consumption and other day after day activities. New water springs were created and extension of pipe lines for water distribution.

At the time the project was implemented, seven (7) kilometers of critical portions of the provincial road network was concreted serving the rural upland population to access the social and marketing services available in the urban center of the island.

Micro-Credit had undergone process of capability building in order to strengthen the organization's financial and technical skills to successfully manage their livelihood projects.

Name of Project: Camiguin Coastal Resource
Management Project (CCRMP)

Vision: Increased natural productivity and enhanced integrity of coastal and marine resources while providing sustainable economic activities towards an improved quality of life among Camiguinons

Goal: An integrated coastal resource management system is institutionalized in the province of Camiguin and sustainably implemented at the barangay, municipal and provincial levels in 5 years.
Overview:

The Camiguin Coastal Resource Management Project (CCRMP) is a project of the Philippine government through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with assistance from the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID) in the island province of Camiguin.  CCRMP covers the province’s five municipalities—Catarman, Guinsiliban, Mahinog, Mambajao, and Sagay which have a total 144,058 ha of municipal waters.  CCRMP seeks to address the complex issue of sustainable management of coastal resources and the promotion of sustainable economic activities in Camiguin Province.

By the end of project life, CCRMP envisions the achievement of the twin goals of:  1) an increased natural productivity and enhanced integrity of coastal and marine resources of the island province; and 2) the promotion of sustainable economic activities thereby contributing towards an improved quality of life among the Camiguinons.  It is envisioned thatwith the establishment and institutionalization of integrated coastal resource management (ICRM) at provincial, municipal and barangay levels, the natural productivity and ecological integrity of Camiguin’s coastal and marine resources are protected and enhanced.

The scope of CCRMP interventions and activities are designed to directly impact Camiguin’s coastal and marine areas, particularly its 42 coastal barangays in partnership with various national government agencies, the academe, non-government organizations, people’s organizations and the private sector.
